Canada invites undergraduate students for ‘Big Canada Challenge’ 2016

 

The Alberta Business Case Competition, which is presented by Alberta School of Business, Canada in association with the High Commission of Canada in India and Air Canada, is open for undergraduate students and has many exciting prizes on offer.

Big Canada Challenge:

The topic of the competition is Climate Change. What small-scale or local initiative can help increase the amount of renewable energy being produced or to reduce individual energy consumption? Participants need to come up with Business plans outlining the solutions.

Eligibility:

The main eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • It is open to only individual participants.
  • Only undergraduate students can apply
  • The business plan should be in word format and in around 1200-1500 words
  • The plan must be cogent, viable and actionable

If shortlisted, participants will have to produce more detailed plan for the final rounds, details of which will be shared later.

Prizes:

First prize: INR 10,000; consolation prizes

Merit Certificate
Profiles of best entries and winners will be uploaded on the organizer’s website and social media sites

CBSE extends JEE Main 2017 Application Form deadline till Jan 16

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam conducting body for JEE Main 2017, has extended the last date for application form of the national level engineering entrance exam till January 16, 2017 (11:59 PM). As per the revised dates, the applicantion fee for JEE Main 2017 can now be paid till January 17 (11.59 pm), 2017. Earlier, the last date for JEE Main 2017 application submission was January 2. However, now the aspiring candidates of JEE Main 2017 have got an additional 14-day window to fill and submit the application form. CBSE had released JEE Main 2017 application form on December 1.


MHRD Considering Single Engineering Common Entrance Test like NEET from 2018!

In what may be a good sign for all engineering aspirants of the country, the MHRD is considering a single common entrance test for Engineering on the lines of NEET. According to reports, the MHRD under Mr. Prakash Javadekar has held a series of meetings with the officials of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to delve in to the feasibility of such an exam. Sources at the AICTE have also confirmed that the meetings were held and that the MHRD is seriously considering this move to bring relief to scores of students who have to prepare for many engineering entrance exams to ensure a good seat

JEE Main 2017: CBSE releases FAQs for Aadhaar based applications and other aspects

Q1. I have recently submitted the request for updation in Aadhaar details (including biometric updation), however, I am unable to apply with the updated Aadhaar Card Details. What should I do?
Ans: Such candidates have to apply for JEE Main 2017 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
Q2. My Aadhaar authentication failed in the first step of application submission due to these possibilities - (a) I may not have entered the details exactly same as mentioned on their Aadhaar card and or (b) My biometric is not updated in Aadhaar. What is the solution against this problem?
Ans: The candidates should verify whether they have entered the details exactly same as mentioned on their Aadhaar card. Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre for biometric updation and apply for JEE Main 2017 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
Q3. The date of birth is not fully or incorrectly mentioned in Aadhaar card or only birth year is mentioned. What do I need to do in this case?
Ans: Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main 2017 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
Q4. My name in Aadhaar Card is not exactly similar or the pattern is different to the one in my school records. What to do?
Ans: Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main 2017 by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.
Or
Should fill the form of JEE Main 2017 with old details in Aadhaar card and thereafter submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre. The updated details in Aadhaar may be corrected in JEE Main 2017 at later stage by the process which will be notified in due course of time.
Q5. The name of father/mother is not exactly same as in school records. The address mentioned in Aadhaar has been changed due to transfer or some other reason. What needs to be done in this case?
Ans: As these particulars are not being matched with Aadhaar data, so the candidates should correctly fill these particulars as per school records. The present/permanent address may also be filled accordingly since CBSE does not send any communication on the candidates’ address.
Q6. How can the candidates of Assam/J&K/Meghalaya having no Aadhaar Card apply for JEE Main 2017?
Ans: Candidates who have passed or are appearing in class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. Identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.
Q7. Can the Candidates of Assam/J&K/Meghalaya having Aadhaar Card choose Examination Centre across India in JEE Main 2017?
Ans: Candidates who have passed or are appearing in class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya having Aadhaar Card can choose the examination centre across India. Candidate must ensure that name, date of birth & gender in online application for JEE Main 2017 must be same in X, XII Certificate/Marksheet and Aadhaar Card details for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication.
Q8. How can the candidates outside India (PIO/OCI/NRI) apply for JEE Main 2017 without Aadhaar?
Ans: Candidates outside India may apply through Passport details.
Q9. Is Aadhaar mandatory for applying in JEE Main 2017?
Ans: According to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officials, all the Indian citizen candidates should possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI. The new eligibility criteria introduced by the exam conducting authority means that an aspirant will not be able to submit online applications unless it carries his/her AADHAAR number. In case, an aspirant does not hold an AADHAR number, he/she will have to apply for it first and then apply for JEE Main 2017.

DRDO announces recruitment of Scientists ‘B’ through GATE 2017
Defence Research And Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced direct recruitment of Scientists ‘B’ on the basis of valid GATE score. In respect of vacancies pertaining to subjects/disciplines for which the national level engineering entrance exam is not conducted, the recruitment will be done through written examination/interview or both depending upon the requirement.

Selection Procedure

The Recruitment Assessment Center (RAC) of DRDO uses the following selection process. Shortlisting of GATE 2017 qualifiers: The qualified candidates will be shortlisted for the interview round. The shortlisting will be done in 1:5 ratio, to the vacancies.
Personal interview: Call letters mentioning date, venue and other details will be issued to shortlisted candidates. After that, candidates will have to appear for interview in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad or Pune center. Candidates belonging to UR and OBC candidates will have to secure 70% marks and SC/ST/PwD candidates need to obtain at least 60% marks, for clearing the interview round.
 Final Merit: The final merit list, discipline and category wise, will comprise names of recruitedcandidates. The selection for the final merit list will be done giving 80% weightage to GATE score and remaining 20% to score of personal interview.
Haryana Power Utilities announce recruitment of Assistant Engineers via GATE 2017

Haryana Power Utilities, comprising HVPNL, HPGCL, UHBVNL and DHBVNL, have announced recruitment of Assistant Engineers/Electrical Cadre and Assistant Engineer/Civil Cadre through GATE 2017. Interested candidates should be from Electrical and Civil Engineering disciplines, and must have qualified in the national level engineering entrance exam. The PSU will release online application in April for the recruitment after GATE 2017 Result declaration, which is scheduled for March 27.
Selection ProcedureRecruitment at the PSU will be done on the basis of candidates’ score in GATE 2017. Thus, they must appear for the entrance exam which will be conducted on February 4, 5, 11 and 12. There will not be any interview conduction and eligible candidates will be directly recruited as Assistant Engineer/Electrical Cadre and Assistant Engineer/Civil Cadre by HPU.

PSPCL announces recruitment of Assistant Engineers via GATE 2017

Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL), a Punjab government owned company responsible for power generation and distribution in the state, will be recruiting Assistant Engineers (On Training)/Electrical on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017 Scores. Candidates interested in joining PSPCL as AE/OT (Electrical) must appear for the national level engineering entrance exam that will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on February 4, 5, 11 and 12
PSPCL Recruitment via GATE 2017 Application Procedure
Candidates will be able to apply online only.

  • They will have to submit GATE 2017 registration number (issued through the admit card) while filling PSPCL application form.
  • Other information including personal, educational, etc. are also to be submitted in the application.

Oil India Limited announces recruitment of executive trainees through GATE 2017

Oil India Limited, a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking, is looking for Indian citizens, who are graduates in Mechanical Engineering and postgraduates in Geology and Geophysics, for recruitment as Executive Trainees (ETs) through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2017. Candidates are required to qualify in the national level engineering test, and thereafter in the interview separately. Interested and eligible candidates can register online for OIL recruitment from mid January to mid February.

Qualification
a. Full time Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology/AMIE of 4 years duration recognised by AICTE
b. Full time postgraduate in Geology of 2 years duration recognised by UGC with Mathematics in graduation
c. Full time postgraduate in Geophysics of 2 years duration recognised by UGC
d. Final year/semester students are also eligible to apply. However, they have to provide Bachelor’s Degree/postgraduate degree pass certificate at the time of Interview.

Selection Process

  • Eligible candidates will have to appear for GATE 2017. They will be short listed for the next stage of selection process on the basis of GATE 2017 scores in order of merit.
